William Henry Smith and Eleanora Plohr were married in Dawson Creek on June 30th 1947 They were on their way to Fort St John where "Wid" was starting his career with the Forest Service and "Elnora" was going to a teaching position at Montney. She had just finished a year of teaching at Telkwa BC and He had been planting trees on Vancouver Island. They met in 1945-46 at Rose Lake east of Williams Lake BC. Mom taught school at Rose Lake and Dad worked on a Dude Ranch nearby. They managed to keep up a long distance relationship despite their careers going in different directions. The photo of them below was taken in Peace River country I believe the original said Blueberry River Bridge. The other says "Hoisting the arial wire", the antenna for their radio, apparently this was a regular chore when Dad was on fire patrol along the Alaska Highway.
