An Anniversary this month.....

July 1st to July 3rd was the 150th Anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War.  Our North Carolina family of Sharps lost a son in this battle, he was Daniel M Sharp son of Eli Sharp.  Eli was the brother of Daniel Sharp that married Eve Anthony.  The photograph here was featured by Ancestry.com on this anniversary from their collection of Civil War era photos.  The letter is one of a collection of 14 letters that I have gotten from the library at the University in Chapel Hill North Carolina and from a cousin in Texas...she descends from Polly Sharp that married Green Nicholson. Daniel M Sharp's spinster sisters Laura and Temperance lived with the Nicholson family in their old age.
